CULTURE
DNA - The members of R1b (HG1) are thought to be the descendants
of the Paleolithic hunter-gatherers who arrived in Europe before the
last Ice Age about 40,000 years ago (Aurignacian
culture). That pattern is most common in Western Europe, but is also
found in all other parts of Europe. The members of HG2 are believed to
be the descendants of two later waves of humans into Europe. The last of
these waves arrived about 8,000 years ago and is credited with
introducing agriculture into Europe.

HISTORY
King Duffus Poem - by Silvia
Townsend Warner
Duffus
and Douglas may be derived from variations in pronunciation of
the same common word - The
DUFFUS
name has undergone a variety of spelling changes through the years; in
1290, "DUFHUS", and in 1512, "DUFFOUS". The name is probably a
compilation of two Gaelic words, dubh and uisg, meaning "darkwater" or
"blackwater" Douglas - Gaelic
Dubhghlas (DOO-luhs) Fr. Old Irish dubh "dark" + glas
"green or blue". Common Celtic river name surviving as the rivers
Douglas in Ireland and Scotland. See
Celtic Names
of The British Isles.
