Miss Duffus enjoys her 100th birthday. Saturday was a wonderful day for Miss Jeannie Duffus. It was her 100th birthday and friends and relatives gathered to congratulate her.

Miss Duffus who lived at 2 Gowrie Place, Hawkhill until a year ago, is now in Cidhmore, the Salvation Army Even- tide Home on Perth Road.

The staff of the Home rallied round to give Miss Duffus a party to remember. All she could say was "I usually like everything quiet, but I did enjoy it."

Miss Duffus who is still able to read without glasses, was up at usual at 9 a.m. to be overwhelmed by a host of gifts, flowers, cards, including best wishes form her sister Johanna Duffus Short in Bexhill on Sea, who is 104. She also received a congratulatory telegram from the Queen. This wonderful lady is really proud of her age and throughout the party she insisted on repeating "I am 100 years old now, really 100."

Among the guests Lord Provost and Colonel Hilda McLaughlen of the Salvation Army Edinburgh.

Duffus: At Kings Cross Hospital, Dundee on 20th Feb. 1965

DUNDEE WOMAN DIES AT 100. Miss Jeannie Duffus, who died in Kings Cross Hospital on Saturday, was the younger of two Dundee sister centenarians

She was 100 on June 13th last year Her sister Mrs Johanna Short, celebrated her 105th birthday in Bexhill-on-Sea, Surrey, on February 4th.

Miss Duffus formerly lived at 2 Gowrie Place, Hawkhill, but moved to Cidhmore, the Salvation Army Eventide home, Perth Road, in 1963.

She was transferred to Kings Cross Hospital about a month ago for extra medical attention.

Her father, John Henderson Duffus, kept a tailor's shop at West Port, and Miss Duffus studied dressmaking after leaving Harris Academy.

The Duffus family were members of Ward Chapel, and in 1885 Johanna Duffus married Mr Robert Short, son of the minister of Ward Chapel at the time.

Funeral from J & J Grays Service Rooms 22 Perth Road to Western Cemetery on Tuesday, Feb. 23rd at 2 p.m.

She was buried on 'Tuesday 23rd February in the Western Cemetery.
